Riversdale Golf Club, Mount Waverley VIC 3149
Is a well groomed and popular Golf course in Mount Waverley, in the city of Monash, 20 minutes from Melbourne CBD, that is listed as no. 97 in the top 100 golf courses in Australia by Golf Digest.
The course has 18 holes and is set in tree lined parkland on undulating terrain. The Club (as opposed to the course) was initially laid out on grazing land near the Mont Albert railway station in 1892, which makes it the second oldest Golf Club in Australia.
The current course was designed in 1930 by Alex Russell. The course is private, but outside visitors may play. The course and the golf club are best known for the Riversdale cup, a prestigious amateur event that was won by some of Australia’s finest modern players prior to their turning professional, including Robert Allenby 1990 and 1991 and Aaron Baddeley 1999 and the club has been the course chosen for the Victorian Open Golf Championship in 1957, 1964 and 1970.
